AGI Constitution

 The name of the Group will be the Acquisitions Group of Ireland.

Objectives of the Group

To provide a forum where matters of common interest relating to the acquisition of library materials may be discussed.


To develop and maintain effective liaison with publishers, suppliers and other organisations or individuals with related interests.


To promote the training and development of staff in Library Acquisitions.

 

Membership of the Group

Membership of the group is open to Academic and Research Libraries and Specialist Libraries and Information Services. All applications will be considered by the group.

 

Affiliation

Affiliation will be by means of an annual membership fee to be determined from time to time by the Group.

 

Executive Committee

Each affiliated institution may nominate one voting representative. Other institutional representatives are welcome to attend. A Chairman, Secretary, Minutes Secretary and Treasurer will be elected annually by the voting representatives, for a maximum of three consecutive years.

 

Meetings

At least three meetings will be held each calendar year. The last meeting of each calendar year will be the AGM.

 

Changes to Constitution and rules

At least two weeks' written notice is required for any proposed changes to the Constitution.

Changes may be agreed at either the AGM or an EGM.

Changes will require majority agreement of the Executive committee.

The Chairman has a casting vote.
