Training

The Acquisitions Group of Ireland regularly organises seminars and workshops in areas of interest to its members.  The upcoming and past events listed below give a flavour of the range of topics covered.

Past Events

  • 27th May 2009 - Seminar An Introduction to Acquisitions for staff newly appointed to acquisitions.  Places are limited so early booking is advised.
  • 29th May 2007 - Seminar An Introduction to Acquisitions for staff newly appointed to acquisitions.
  • Shopping for your Library - Procurement and Acquisitions, seminar held in the Mercer Hotel, 16th January 2007.  Presentations and discussions on the Tendering and Procurement process from the point of view of Librarians, Suppliers and Procurement Officers.
  • A Seminar on Acquisitions Management, for newly appointed Assistant Librarians and Library Assistants, held in the Mercer Hotel on 11th November  2004. Talks and discussions were led by AGI librarians and a bookseller.
  • Seminar on Finance and Budgetary Management, held in the Mercer Hotel, February 2003. This consisted of talks and a practical workshop delivered by Communique International.
  • Two half-day seminars, on Tendering and on Copyright, held in the Dublin Institute Of Technology (DIT), October 2001. These were given by AGI librarians.
  • Seminar on Financial Management and Performance Indicators, held in the Mercer Hotel, Dublin, November 2000. This included talks and practical sessions led by two UK librarians (two-day event).
  • Workshop on Acquisitions Management, held in Royal College Of Surgeons In Ireland (RCSI) November 1999. This took the form of talks and discussions led by an AGI librarian, a bookseller and the NAG education officer.
  • Workshop on Acquisitions Management, held in Trinity College Dublin November 1996. This consisted of talks and discussions led by an AGI librarian, a bookseller and the NAG education officer.
